BDS report Week 296

7 July 2016

Protest #296 was held on a freezing cold afternoon in Rundle Mall on Thursday, 7 July 2016, but our protest group was warmed by the numbers of supporters of Palestine who came up to ask for our BDS leaflets.

Many of the people passing by told us they already had the leaflet and congratulated us on standing up for Palestine. Most heartening. Despite the cold quite a few people stopped to chat. People were sympathetic, with the exception of a few dedicated Christian Zionists who seemed to want to convert us to a form of violent Christianity that bears no similarity to a genuine Christian's desire for peace and harmony in the Middle East.

Israeli cultural ambassadors, The Jerusalem Quartet, will be playing the Adelaide Town Hall on 15 September 2016. We ask all supporters of Palestine to refrain from buying tickets to this show or to not attend if you already have tickets.so that the empty seats will send a message that Israeli cultural events will not be welcome in Adelaide until there is peace and justice for the Palestinians.
