BDS report Week 297

15 July 2016

We had a really good turn out on Friday night for Protest #297, particularly considering the chilly winter weather here in Adelaide. And it was a fantastic protest - lots of interest from people passing by and large numbers of conversations which were uplifting and positive in the main.  Quite a few people wanted to know how they could be more involved with the pro-Palestinian movement in Adelaide.

As always on a Friday evening there was a group of Christian Zionists waving Israeli flags and quite a few photographers who did not seem to have our best interests at heart in filming us. Towards the end of the protest a well dressed young man proudly declaring his Israeli nationality approached a few of the protesters. He appeared to be a polite and civilised chap until he saw our Middle Eastern protester and his true colours shone as he accused Abbas of perpetrating the vile truck attack that occurred in recent days in Nice, France. An unnecessary, unfortunate slur on our peaceful protest.

Thank you everyone for your support.
