Edward Said Memorial Lecture 2020 Video - Melissa Parke

20 October 2020

AFOPA’s 2020 Edward Said Memorial Lecture was delivered Saturday 17 October via ZOOM by Melissa Parke, Human Rights lawyer and former Australian parliamentarian. The title of her lecture is   ‘The Conscious Pariah” (How distortions of fact, contortions of logic and assassinations of character are used against critics of Israel, while it poses as the plucky democracy and the eternal victim.)”

Thank you to everyone who registered and joined us for this remarkable event! Some audience comments are: Brilliant and immeasurably valuable speech;  Melissa's lecture was really excellent;  a very informative and brilliant talk; Melissa Parke was very inspiring; Melissa was even better than I dared to hope and all in all it was a really good lecture. Edward Said would be proud of it; Thank you for allowing me to listen to Mellissa's exceptional oration. Apart from the historical truths, the expose of the plight of the Palestinians and the tragedy of the failed Israeli State, it was deeply moving. A great tribute to the memory of Said that deserves international exposure.
