When are diamonds truly "conflict free"?

Shareholders Against Blood Diamonds Challenge De Beers and Forevermark Brands

We all have to question whether our diamonds are ethically sourced and correctly labelled. This can be complex and challenging so we are fortunate that a group of Anglo American (AA) shareholders, Shareholders Against Blood Diamonds (SABD), are pursuing these matters. They are currently awaiting the outcome of a complaint lodged with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) UK four months ago challenging the legitimacy of claims by AA-owned De Beers Group that De Beers and Forevermark diamonds are “conflict free”.

During the 2019 AGM SABD presented AA Board members, the CEO of De Beers, Bruce Clever and other shareholders with a booklet detailing risks to the company’s brand and reputation posed by Israeli blood diamonds.  Further questions were raised by SABD during the 2020 AA AGM.
